Dale and Cindy are classically trained musicians. Dale holds a Master of Music (University of Illinois) and Bachelor of Music (University of Wisconsin) in piano performance. Cindy has a Master of Music (Manhattan School of Music) and Bachelor of Music (University of Wisconsin) in bassoon performance. She continues to perform as principal bassoonist of the Madison Symphony Orchestra. For ten years they coordinated a chamber music ensemble, commissioned composers, promoted their own concert series, and produced a CD.
But these days they prefer the sheer joy of playing traditional folk music. In fact, when they returned from a recent trip to Scotland, did they bring home the obligatory bottle of whisky? Nope--their baggage was weighed down with books of traditional Scottish songs, fiddle tunes and Robert Burns poetry.
